Standard Operation Procedures Training:
Better SOP to Create Better Systems and Better Organization

Training Objectives and Expected Results
The objectives of SOP training are to fill the capacity gap of the current personnel on the making, improving and utilizing of standard operating in order to ensure the organization effectiveness and efficiency of the operations.
The objectives could also be described as below: 
  • To increase knowledge and skills of the employees
  • To enhance knowledge on organizational process, SOPs and work instruction
  • To enhance understanding on the importance of SOPs
  • To gain knowledge on essential guideline in developing an effective SOPs
  • To develop skill in writing comprehensive SOPs
  • To gain knowledge and skill in designing mechanism for SOPs socialization, test and trial, monitoring, revision and approval schemes.
The expected results:
  • Participants will be aware and recognize SOPs as the important tools to have achievement on tasks and organization’s objectives.
  • Participants will be able to propose new SOPs to response on changing requirements, targets or public service quality.
  • The increase sense of teamwork among functions or divisions.
  • The organization can better adopt the SOP compliance control mechanism.
  • The organization keep the level of profesionalism and increase its accountibility as a public service institution.  
Training Participants
The SOP Training will target personnel in supervisory level as the participants. The participants are assumed to be in the position that making systemized interaction with other division in accomplishing their tasks. It is also considering that SOP become more important and critical if it provide guideline or direction of inter division interactions.
Personnel whose designation is to prepare and control the SOP compliance are also relevant  to participate in the training.

Training Method
Adopting adult education method, training will encourage the participants to actively involve in case studies, discussions, games and making conclusions on new skills obtained. Trainers will facilitate, give explanation and help the participant to draw benefit as much as possible from each training sessions.
Description of the Method:
Participants are assumed to be experienced workers and always practicing many procedures in their jobs. Through discussion, participant will identify the importance of a sound SOP and the needs of SOP revision in certain activities.
Trainer will facilitate the making of big picture of the SOP components and the participants will review their knowledge on each of the components.
In training process, all aspects of SOPs will rearrange on systematic pictures and received by the participants in the new format. The new format will allow the participants to enrich their knowledge further or in the future through better analysis skills.
Train will use games to give examples  of each key teaching points. Games also give some funs and relaxation.

I. Assessment of Participant’s Knowledge and The Essence of SOP
Time frame: One day, 6 sessions, 5 hours effective.

Pre training test
SOP made easy (SOP is not a difficult working tool)
Who needs the SOP, Why, What, When and Where
List of SOPs needed in an organization
Bad SOP Good SOP – What should changed? The SOPs or the personnel?
SOP revisions, better systems and better organization

II. Skill Building on SOP Writing and Management
Time frame: One day, 6 sessions, 6 hours 15 minutes effective.

Tables and Forms in SOP

Writing Exercise

III. Evaluation of Training Effectiveness and Improvement
Time frame: One day, 4 sessions, 4 hours 30 minutes  effective.
